It is definitely true with what they say about “every pregnancy being different”!

I feel like this pregnancy lasted a lot longer than my first! Matter of fact, I felt more prepared with my first pregnancy than with this one. Since I am trusting in God, I don’t necessarily find myself stressing about all the things I need to get done before baby girl gets here...even though I do have a lot to get done before baby girl gets here!! Lol, This time around is very different because Carter was born right before the pandemic lockdown and Cydney will be born during the second wave of the virus.

One thing I am not worried about for Baby Cydney is what to pack in my hospital bag. I was well-prepared before and it worked out perfectly for me because I ended staying in the hospital for almost a week and Carter was in the NICU for 11 days. Things have changed a bit as far as how long they want mommy and baby to stay unless needed but overall, I hope and pray that we will only stay for 2 or 3 days max unless if I do another C-section. Everything that I bought or had is from Target, Marshalls , and Amazon.

Hospital Bag Checklist

Prepping your home and nursery should be more overwhelming than figuring out what to pack for the hospital. You’re probably asking yourself: what should I pack for the baby?! What should I pack for myself?? What about for dad?? Well, no worries my love, I’ve made the ultimate hospital bag checklist for ya

FOR MOM

  • pajamas - 1 moo moo (nightgown) and/or big shirt and sweatpants

  • Slippers- easier to pack shoes that you are comfortable within the hospital as well as to leave the hospital

  • Socks with grips- in case you don’t want to walk around in your slippers. LOVE THESE!!!!

  • depends underwears- because regular underwears are VERY uncomfortable.

  • Essential oils- i used this to help keep me calm when during the times that called for it. Avoid perfumes, plus choosing the right oil combo can be calming

  • Prayer oil-For me, protecting my space with prayer and to keep me calm

  • postpartum belly band

  • Dress- more comfortable for when you're leaving the hospital

  • toiletries-face wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair tie, or hair cover

  • breast pump and bottles- the hospital usually loan you one if you have to stay there awhile. I still would bring my haakaa

DON’T FORGET

  • camera with remote

  • tripod

  • hospital paperwork/birth plan

  • insurance card

If you have other kids, it’s important to pack a bag for them as well if they are going to stay with another family member. Most likely my mom or sister will come to my house; but just in case, I did pack a bag for him.

Now that my bag is all packed! I feel good and ready for baby Cydney to make her arrival. Lol Although I don’t want here too soon lol. Once you and your bundle of joy have made it home, you're going to want to rest then use your postpartum kit that you would also have prepared ahead of time, and if you don’t that is ok. I have a checklist for that as well that I am sure a family member can put together for you. Click here to my late blog post on DIY Postpartum Essential Kit
