If you’ve never been to Charleston, South Carolina, then might I suggest you add it to your bucket list of places to go! Charleston is known to not only be the friendliest city in the USA, but it’s also known to be the most Instagrammable CITY as well. On our road trip leaving Kitty Hawk, North Carolina to head down to South Florida, I knew this southern charming town had to be one of our stops!!! If you look on Instagram and Pinterest, you will see the most memorable picture-worthy locations.  This small town has a row of famous pastel-colored houses, a scented library to fill your nose with the most wonderful combination of candle aromas, a marketplace to shop until you drop, an iconic fountain, and a lovely bed and breakfast to cozy on up in.

The Pineapple Fountain

The Pineapple Fountain is one of the most iconic treasures to the small town and I could understand why it’s recognized as “Instagram Worthy”. The story behind this fountain is the representation of “Southern hospitality”.  It was also a symbol of wealth and think of it this way…way back when before cellphone and such a pineapple was placed outside of your home to let people know that you are now receiving visitors.

The next spot to take the best selfies is at Rainbow Row! The name is obviously due it’s 13 gorgeous pastel historical houses in Charleston. It is the longest cluster of Georgian style homes in the United States… and YES people still live in them.

QUICK TIP: When exploring a new city, ask the front desk of your hotel as to where all the spots you want to visit are. This way your endpoint is also your beginning point. This tip will not only save you gas, but it will keep you organized and save you time as well.

Hands down!! Candlefish was my favorite spot to visit in Charleston! I have a love for candles and this shop will always have a special place in my heart. When you walk in, there’s a perfect view of a magnificent gold ladder!  Why yes, it really is a library of amazing aromas and deliciousness. So many combinations for you to test out that your nose will thank you in the end! If you are in town for a long trip, then I suggest taking one of their candle-making classes; where they will walk you through the whole process of making a candle. Once your candle has cured, it will be yours to take home!

INSTAGRAM SPOT #4

Historic Charleston City Market Place

Homemade Glory blog downtown Charleston, SC travel

The best thing we could have done for ourselves was to stay somewhere close to all the historical attractions. We were able to walk to all the iconic Instagrammable spots with no problems. The Market Place is a historic market complex that stretches over four blocks. It’s one of the best spots to get all of your souvenirs to take home. Within the marketplace, there are a few bakery spots to grab a bite as you shop. It’s also the spot where you could take a carriage tour lead by a horse around the historical town.

QUICK TIP: If possible, find a hotel that is near everything. This way if it is safe to walk around you can. this way you won’t need to find a parking spot or catch a ride.

There is so much to explore and I want to encourage you, to get out there! So, where would you like to go visit next?! Comment below!!!
